Ranked among the top ten veterinary schools worldwide, the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine (Penn Vet) is seeking an Associate Dean for Advancement to conceptualize, plan and execute a coordinated program of philanthropic fundraising, alumni and constituent relations, and marketing and communications for the School and its affiliated hospitals. Penn Vet is seeking candidates who are collaborative, skilled managers, and also possess proven exceptional frontline fundraising experience.

Reporting jointly to the Dean of the School of Veterinary Medicine and the Associate Vice President for School and Center Programs, the Associate Dean for Advancement will manage a staff of 15 and oversee Development, Alumni Relations, and Marketing and Communications for the School and both of its hospitals. Collaborating with the University's central development and alumni relations staff, the Associate Dean will integrate the School's initiatives with the University's overall fundraising programs.

An integral member of the Dean's senior administrative team, the Associate Dean will play a key leadership role at the School. Working closely with the Dean, faculty, the Board of Overseers, alumni, advisory boards, volunteer groups, and students to promote active involvement in the fundraising process, the Associate Dean will work to effectively and efficiently use these groups' time and talent to advance Penn Vet's quest for philanthropic giving and external support along with growing media and public awareness of the School's programs and successes. The Associate Dean will also oversee the marketing for both the Ryan Veterinary Hospital for cats, dogs and other domestic/companion animals, and the New Bolton Center Hospital for horses and livestock/farm animals.

An enthusiastic, organized, and proven manager who can work in a complex and collaborative environment, the Associate Dean will bring professional expertise and best practices to Penn Vet. The successful candidate will have a sincere and genuine interest in the mission and programs of Penn Vet, and be a sophisticated diplomat who can interact with a variety of donors, faculty, staff, and stakeholders. Candidates must have demonstrated experience in managing all aspects of an advancement program, including closing major and principal gifts, working with senior leadership, and successfully engaging various groups and constituencies. The ability to inspire a culture of philanthropy to successfully build and grow a fundraising program to its greatest potential is essential.
