Texas State University invites nominations and applications for the next vice president for student affairs. The vice president for student affairs (VPSA) will join the university as it continues to evolve and will have the opportunity to build upon an excellent foundation laid by the Division of Student Affairs’ long-serving vice president. An experienced university-wide leader and student affairs professional, the next vice president will bring an enterprising, motivated, student-centered and agile spirit to promote a culture of academic success and student development rooted in inclusion, equity and diversity. 

The vice president for student affairs is the senior student affairs officer at Texas State University, reporting directly to the president and serving as a trusted advisor and member of the president’s cabinet. The VPSA provides vision, leadership and strategic direction for a comprehensive portfolio of programs, services and strategic initiatives, including Campus Recreation; Career Services; Counseling Center; Dean of Students Office; Office of Disability Services; Housing and Residential Life; LBJ Student Center; Retention Management and Planning; Student Affairs Technology Services; and Student Health Center. The Division of Student Affairs has a budget of nearly $83 million and employs 431 staff, 39 graduate assistants and 675 student staff.

Texas State’s more than 38,000 students choose from 98 bachelor’s, 91 master’s and 14 doctoral degree programs offered by the following colleges: Applied Arts, McCoy College of Business, Education, Fine Arts and Communication, Health Professions, Liberal Arts, Science and Engineering, University College and The Graduate College. The university also has an Honors College. The university’s student body is diverse, closely reflecting the demographics of the State of Texas. As an Emerging Research University with a Carnegie classification of Doctoral University: High Research Activity, Texas State offers opportunities for discovery and innovation to faculty and students. Texas State has two campuses. Its San Marcos Campus is highly residential with nearly 7,000 beds and more than 2,000,000 square feet of student housing spread across 39 buildings. The Round Rock Campus offers the junior and senior level classes to complete a bachelor’s degree in 12 programs as well as 16 graduate degrees, post baccalaureate certification and continuing education programs.
