Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED) College of Medicine seeks applications, inquiries, and nominations for the position of Senior Associate Dean, Medical Education (Senior Associate Dean).

Reporting to the Vice Dean/Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, the Senior Associate Dean is responsible for providing overall leadership, vision, strategy and oversight of the curriculum leading to the NEOMED M.D. degree.  She/he has authority and responsibility for overseeing all personnel, policies, and activities related to effective management and delivery of a coherent, coordinated curriculum consistent with the NEOMED mission and established NEOMED graduation competencies.  The Senior Associate Dean will be responsible for ensuring that the content, delivery, evaluation and quality improvement activities related to the curriculum are in compliance with accreditation standards.

NEOMED, founded in 1973 to meet Northeast Ohio’s critical need for primary care physicians, is a community-based, publicly supported, health sciences university with colleges of medicine, pharmacy, and graduate studies.  The College of Medicine is in its fifth decade of developing physicians for and from Ohio with many of its students focusing on patient-centered care in underserved areas.  The College has approximately 600 medical school students spanning pre-clinical and clinical years.    

Candidates must possess a M.D., D.O. or Ph.D. with decanal experience in medical education from an accredited college or university and a minimum of five years’ experience in medical education administration, curricular development and implementation.  Candidates should possess broad administrative experience in curriculum development with an in-depth understanding and knowledge of accreditation of graduate medical programs, particularly the requirements and expectations of LCME.  The successful candidate will have a strong track record as an educational scholar and/or superior clinician-educator and be eligible for appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor at NEOMED. We seek candidates with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues throughout the College of Medicine and across NEOMED, and to champion education within a health sciences university as well as among a wide range of external constituencies.
