Franklin & Marshall College — Chief Officer for Diversity & Inclusion

Franklin & Marshall College (F&M) seeks an innovative, dedicated and dynamic professional for its inaugural position of chief officer for diversity & inclusion (CODI). Reporting directly to the president, the CODI will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on celebrating, advocating, programming and working collaboratively with the Franklin & Marshall community to build a diverse, inclusive environment.

The CODI will join a campus team that is collaborative, committed and supportive, operating with a strong sense of mission, community and purpose. F&M seeks a compelling advocate for diversity and inclusivity who is able to appreciate the College’s identity as a leading liberal arts institution and communicate the College’s fundamental values, including a focus on student success, diversity and community engagement. The CODI will provide vision, leadership and guidance on a full spectrum of diversity, equity, inclusion and social justice matters.

F&M’s CODI must have a curiosity that inspires innovation but also the analytical and intellectual abilities to evaluate the effectiveness of diversity initiatives on campus. Franklin & Marshall students, faculty and staff are actively engaged in diversity initiatives across campus and with the community. The successful candidate will be an experienced leader who will help synthesize and integrate the campus’s many effective diversity and inclusion efforts into a visible, innovative strategy for enhancing diversity, equity, access and inclusion across all aspects of the College’s mission.

CODI applicants must demonstrate proven effectiveness and expertise in diversity initiatives; a willingness to embrace the College’s mission and values; vision, leadership, and exceptional communication skills; and an inclusive leadership style.

A graduate degree is required; PhD is preferred; the successful candidate should have a record of progressively responsible and complex diversity- and inclusion-related experiences, and at least five years at a senior level leading this type of work, preferably with experience creating an inaugural diversity and inclusion program.
