Colorado College invites nominations and applications for its 14th president, to succeed President Jill Tiefenthaler after a successful nine-year term.

Consistently ranked among the top 30 National Liberal Arts Colleges and top five Most Innovative Schools by U.S. News and World Report, Colorado College enjoys an unequivocal mission: to provide the finest liberal arts education in the country. The College is a unique institution in terms of geography and pedagogy. Offering intensive learning that expands through and beyond the Rocky Mountain West, Colorado College enrolls just over 2,000 undergraduate students and is the only selective liberal arts college in the region. Through 37 academic departments and five interdisciplinary programs, faculty engage students directly and prepare them for leadership in the 21st century. The College’s signature academic program, the “Block Plan,” is an intensive academic schedule that allows students to immerse themselves in a single subject for three and a half weeks, both in the classroom and in the field. Students at Colorado College learn more than theoretical approaches; they learn to embrace the importance of diverse backgrounds and viewpoints and appreciate how diversity enriches their understanding of the world.  

Reporting directly to the Board of Trustees, the 14th president will provide strategic and energetic leadership for the College’s next chapter. Working closely with senior leadership on college-wide administrative challenges and goals, the next president will: embark on a new, collaborative strategic planning process; build upon a recent successful comprehensive campaign to expand fundraising and further increase alumni engagement; and leverage a variety of unique and distinctive resources, such as the recently integrated Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center, to continue raising the College’s profile and reputation. The ideal candidate will have a passion for and an ability to articulate the value of a residential liberal arts education, a commitment to innovative leadership, a record of administrative accomplishments, experience growing resources on behalf of an institution, and an unwavering commitment to anti-racism, diversity, and inclusion.
