New Administrative Posts in Higher Education for Three African Americans

Julian Williams has been appointed the inaugural vice president for diversity, equity, and inclusion at the University of South Carolina. He was vice president of inclusion and diversity at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. Earlier in his career, Williams was director of equal opportunity and Title IX officer at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, New York, and director of equity and diversity at Monmouth University in New Jersey.

A native of Michigan, Williams earned a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Michigan and a juris doctorate from Michigan State University.

Michelle Meggs is the new executive director of the Women + Girls Research Alliance at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. The organization works collaboratively with faculty, students, and the community to provide opportunities for research and education on policy issues affecting women.

Dr. Meggs is a graduate of Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte. She holds a master of divinity degree from Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and a doctorate in the humanities with a concentration in Africana women’s studies from Clark Atlanta University.

Reginald Blaylock was appointed presidential associate for community, campus partnerships and student experience at California Polytechnic State University-Pomona. He has served in several interim roles on campus including special assistant for student success partnerships.

Dr. Blaylock holds a doctorate in educational leadership, a master of public administration degree, and a bachelor’s degree  in public administration, all from San Diego State University.
