Bates College — Assistant in Instruction for Biology, 1-year position

The Biology Department of Bates College seeks applicants for a 1-year position as an Assistant in Instruction, with the potential for a 1-year renewal dependent on the needs of the college.  This year-round position provides laboratory assistance to faculty teaching biology courses, by preparing and teaching laboratory sections in a department committed to equity and inclusion.  The primary responsibilities involve supporting and teaching a sophomore-level CURE (course-based undergraduate research experience) centered on a microbiome research project.

Negotiable between 1 July and 1 August 2020.

The candidate for this position will have a Bachelor’s degree in life sciences (by the start date of the position) and experience in molecular biology techniques, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to justice, equity, and inclusion.  Preferred: Experience with bioinformatics, experience in teaching.

The successful applicant must also successfully complete a criminal background check.
