Job Description:
The Reporting and Analytics Services Manager is a member of the Business Intelligence Team within Information Technology Services (ITS). The position works in collaboration with data analysts, business users and ITS staff, and is a member of the team responsible for implementing and delivering business intelligence solutions to the University.

The Reporting and Analytics Manager is responsible for the design, development, and management of data warehouse and business intelligence technical environments used for reporting and analytics. This position will lead efforts on designing and implementing data models and processes to extract, transform, and load data into the data warehouse and business intelligence applications.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Partner with the Institutional Research, Planning, and Effectiveness office and other functional areas to gather business requirements and deliver a robust enterprise reporting infrastructure
  • Lead the design, implementation, and expansion of BI technical environment and data assets such as OBIEE, ODI and a data warehouse
  • Ensure that the business intelligence system supports operational, performance management, and strategic functions
  • Ensure the technical environment is current with software upgrades and patches and performs optimally
  • Maintain the foundational materials that define the University Data
  • Data governance processes
  • Meta-data definition and library
  • External and internal integration designs
  • Create and maintain relational and dimensional data structures within the data warehouse and QlikView to meet functional requirements
  • Develop and maintain complex data extraction, transformation, and load processes using current tools (e.g., Oracle SQL Developer, Toad, Oracle 12c database packages, stored procedures, functions, and materialized views)
  • Develop robust, efficient, and intuitive meta data layers
  • Ensure adequate technical documentation on data warehouse structures, data mappings, and ETL processes
  • Establish and perform testing procedures for ETL processes, data quality assurance, and BI applications
  • Maintain a strong understanding of business workflows, processes, and events and how these are captured in transactional systems
  • Perform ongoing monitoring and refinement of data architecture and BI solutions
  • Manage projects that relate to ITS reporting and analytic services

Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, database management, or related field from a college or university accredited by a U.S. Department of Education (DOE) or internationally recognized accrediting organization
  • Applicants must clearly address their ability to work with a culturally diverse population in their application
  • At least one year experience developing ETL processes
  • At least one year experience in the development and administration of Oracle SQL Developer and Toad or equivalent tool(s)
  • Strong understanding of relational database systems, data warehousing, dimensional modeling, performance tuning, and related concepts
  • Strong analytical, research and critical thinking skills, and attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Experience with the inception and implementation of visualization tools to develop dashboards and charts
  • Excellent organizational and decision-making skills including the demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines while providing quality customer service and products
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new technology

Preferred Qualifications

  • Kimball dimensional data modeling experience
  • At least two years experience supervising staff
  • Experience working within a higher education environment
