Coastal Carolina University — Academic Advisor / Student Success Counselor

Coastal Carolina University is accepting applications for the following position: Academic Advisor/Student Success Coordinator (Student Services Program Coordinator II) in the HTC Honors College and Center for Interdisciplinary Studies.

Duties will include, but may not be limited to: providing academic advising for students in the HTC Honors College and Center for Interdisciplinary Studies; implementing and evaluating student engagement and success strategies; including serving as the staff advisor for two university-wide honors societies; teaching three courses per academic year, as needed; and maintaining familiarity with trends and concepts related to honors student education, academic advising and student success at the post-secondary level.

Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree and experience in student services programs are required. At least two (2) years of full-time experience related to advising or mentoring college students and a Master’s degree are strongly preferred. A successful candidate will possess knowledge of the basic principles and theories of student development and educational administration; the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, faculty, staff and the general public; the ability to identify, develop and implement programs and activities that will engage students and lead to student success and retention; the ability to provide supportive advising for a wide range of student concerns and challenges; and perform other duties as assigned.
