Wilmington College — VPAA / Dean of Faculty

Wilmington College has announced the search and will welcome nominations and applications for its VPAA/Dean of Faculty. The VPAA will be directly responsible to Dr. James Reynolds, Wilmington’s president of nine years. As Wilmington’s chief academic officer, the VPAA will be academically entrepreneurial as a leader, experienced as a teacher/scholar, decisive as an administrator, accomplished as a strategic planner and implementer, collaborative by nature, and informed about the needs of the 21st century learner.

The VPAA will join the Wilmington community as it builds on its strengths as a small liberal arts and career-oriented college, while establishing new and strategic directions for academic programming. The VPAA will be actively engaged with a dedicated faculty, a talented staff, and a committed Board of Trustees. Wilmington is prepared to welcome the new VPAA on or before July 1, 2020.

Wilmington is an independent college with a hallmark for providing hands-on learning opportunities. Founded in 1870 by the Society of Friends (Quakers), WC hosts 1,100 students at its main campus, most of whom come from Ohio and another 135 at a satellite location in Cincinnati. The College offers the Bachelor of Arts (A.B.) and the Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degrees. A Master of Science in Athletic Training will begin in fall 2021, while other graduate degrees are in the development stage. Primarily a residential college in Wilmington, Ohio (population 13,000), the campus is within an hour drive of the metropolitan areas of Columbus, Cincinnati, and Dayton.

The VPAA will be expected to partner with the president at a moment of distinct opportunity for envisioning Wilmington’s future. An ability to engage in developing a new strategic plan, to evaluate and build creatively on the College’s existing curricular and financial strengths, and to reflect a style that combines vision, consensus building, and decisiveness will be essential to the new VPAA’s success.

Prior to making application, prospective candidates are asked to learn more about the application process by reviewing the VPAA/Dean of Faculty Search Profile at www.wilmington.edu/search-profile. Candidates are requested to submit materials by 5 PM EDT on Monday, March 16 for the most favorable consideration. All inquiries will be received in full confidence by:
