Department of Nutritional Sciences (NS) seeks two energetic faculty member to join the department with the ability to interact successfully and work harmoniously with colleagues and students in a diverse community. Experience working with diverse student populations and first-generation students is highly desirable.

Open Rank Professor – The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses, face to face and online. Mentor MS and PhD students and assist in recruitment of graduate students. Develop and maintain a high impact scholarly research program via publications and external funding. Be able to work in multidisciplinary research teams; collaborate with researchers within the department as well. Engage in outreach activities and perform service to the department, college, university, and the profession through involvement and leadership in national and or international professional associations.

Required Qualifications: An earned doctorate, such as PhD, in nutrition, or related disciplines such as biochemistry or physiology. Strong record of current extramural funding from federal agencies. Pursuing basic / molecular biology / mechanistic research in obesity, diabetes, cancer, cardiovascular disease, epigenetics, microbiome, energy metabolism, or metabolism in liver, muscle or adipose tissue, as it relates to nutrition. Demonstrated engagement in research related to aspects of nutrition or related metabolism as evidenced by externally funded collaborative research projects or pertinent patents filed / received. Ability to interact successfully and work harmoniously with colleagues and students in a diverse community.

Preferred Qualifications: Postdoctoral or equivalent research experience. Experience working with diverse student populations and first-generation students is highly desirable. Potential for collaboration with research groups in related fields. Evidence or potential for training/mentoring graduate and undergraduate students.

Associate/Full Professor – The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses, face to face and online. Mentor undergraduate, MS and PhD students and assist in recruitment of graduate students. Develop and maintain a high impact scholarly research program via publications and external funding. Be able to work in multidisciplinary research teams; collaborate with researchers within the department as well. Engage in outreach activities and perform service to the department, college, university, and the profession through involvement and leadership in national and or international professional associations.
Required Qualifications: An earned doctorate, such as PhD, in medicinal chemistry, chemistry or related disciplines. Strong record of current extramural funding from federal agencies. Demonstrated engagement in research related to drug discovery / drug development as evidenced by externally funded collaborative research projects or pertinent patents filed / received. Ability to interact successfully and work harmoniously with colleagues and students in a diverse community.

Preferred Qualifications: Postdoctoral or equivalent research experience. Research experience for drug discovery / drug development in areas related to obesity, diabetes, cancer, epigenetics, microbiome, liver and muscle metabolism. Experience working with diverse student populations and first-generation students is highly desirable. Potential for collaboration with research groups in Chemistry & Biochemistry focused on synthesis and catalysis. Evidence or potential for training/mentoring graduate and undergraduate students.
