Mott Community College — Full-Time Instructor, Physical Therapist Assistant Program

Purpose, Scope & Dimension of Job: Faculty facilitate student learning and initiate and participate in efforts to consistently improve the level of student success. As learning facilitators, faculty consistently assess learning outcomes and their own teaching effectiveness (pedagogy). As professionals, faculty adhere to the ethical standards of their profession as outlined, for example, by the NEA and the State of Michigan. Where applicable, faculty maintain licensure and certifications. Specific Teaching Assignment:

Faculty member will be responsible for teaching lecture and/or the laboratory portion of courses in the Physical Therapist Assistant program, adhering to the stated course objectives, content and delivery as part of the approved program curriculum.

Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  1. Graduate from a regionally accredited institution for physical therapy or physical therapy assistants
  2. Associate’s degree in Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) with a Bachelor’s degree or higher in a health care related field or a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Physical Therapy. Educational credentials must be from accredited institutions
  3. Current Michigan licensure as a Physical Therapist (PT) or Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA). This position is in a program that receives funding from the Perkins grant; therefore, incumbents must provide proof of licensure/credential and maintain same as a condition of employment. If not licensed in Michigan, then eligible to obtain licensure as a PT or PTA for Michigan licensure prior to
  4. A minimum of three years of full-time post-licensure clinical practice
  5. Two years of clinical practice experience must include experience as a CCCE or CI in physical therapy, or a minimum of two years of experience in teaching, curriculum development and administration in a PT or PTA program
  6. Evidence of continuing professional

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Master’s Degree or higher in Physical Therapy or related health care or health educational field from an accredited institution.
  2. At least two years of experience as an Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education (ACCE) or administrator for a PT or PTA program.
  3. Teaching experience at the community college
  4. Familiarity with use of computer-based instruction, distance learning, learning technologies, competency-based instruction and modularized
