Hinds Community College — President

The Board of Trustees invites nominations and applications for the position of President of Hinds Community College (Hinds CC).

Since its humble beginnings in 1917 when Hinds County Agricultural High School opened in the small town of Raymond, Hinds Community College has grown to become the largest community college in Mississippi. As the fourth largest institution of higher learning in the state, Hinds CC serves approximately 29,000 students (credit and non-credit) each year. A pillar institution in the region, for over 100 years Hinds CC has remained true to its mission to provide a quality, affordable, accessible education to the communities it serves.

Six convenient locations can be found in Jackson, Pearl, Raymond, Utica, and Vicksburg. Hinds CC’s academic program of study prepares students for a successful transfer to four-year universities and colleges, or students can receive expert training in more than 70 Career and Technical program options. A premier education partner for business and industry, Hinds CC offers a dynamic slate of career-technical programs tailored to local markets. In its response to meet student’s educational goals and objectives, labor market and economic development demands, and lifelong learning opportunities, Hinds Community College delivers a full complement of support and resources to meet student needs, regardless of their educational interests and abilities.

Though the main college campus is located in the quaint town of Raymond, the metropolitan area offers multiple opportunities to enjoy the region’s natural resources as well as leisure pursuits. Three cities inside the service area are ranked among the top 10 places to live in Mississippi by ranking and review site Niche.com. The metro area includes quality public and private schools, amenities such as theater, arts, fine dining, and shopping. A range of sporting venues are readily available and each year thousands participate in annual events such as the Mississippi Blues Marathon and as spectators of the Sanderson Farms Championships. While the metro area is known as vibrant and progressive, and is home to global entities such as Continental Tire and Nissan; Mississippi is also steeped in history. Cultural events, business trade shows, and family festivals are a staple in our community. The state capital in Jackson, lies just west of Raymond and is accessible through three local airports. For all these reasons and many more, Mississippi is known as the Hospitality State.
