Coastal Carolina University is accepting applications for the Director of Intercultural and Inclusion Student Services in the Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.

The Director provides leadership for the Intercultural and Inclusion Student Services office.  The Director will uphold the mission of Intercultural and Inclusion Student Services to offer cultural development opportunities grounded in social justice and inclusiveness for students, faculty, staff and the community through a variety of programming and involvement.  The Director will serve as a support person and advocate for students from underrepresented and marginalized groups through programming, services and professional advocacy.  The Director’s primary focus is on supporting the retention of students.  The Director will collaborate with all members of the community to cultivate a campus environment which understands, respects and values diversity, as well as work with those individuals to create a safe and supportive campus environment that encourages achievement and success for all.  The Director reports to the Vice President for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.

Qualifications:  A master’s degree and five (5) years full-time professional experience in a relevant student services area are required.  A master’s degree in higher education or a related field and prior experience in diversity, equity, and inclusion is strongly preferred.  

The ideal candidate will possess an understanding of the changing dynamics of a college/university environment; knowledge and understanding of issues facing college students; demonstrate knowledge and experience working effectively in a diverse community as a leader, advisor, mentor and advocate and good project management and problem-solving skills, and the ability to ability to organize material, analyze data, and prepare reports and recommendations.  Successful candidates must also have excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to build relationships and a demonstrated commitment to diversity and student success.
