POSITION DETAILS
Reporting to the Assistant Vice President of Student Affairs, the Student Life Director will be responsible for assisting the Assistant Vice President to plan, implement and evaluate the programs and services managed by the Department, and to recommend the development and implementation of new programs and services that support the College’s strategic plan. The Student Life Director will assist the Assistant Vice President in promoting a desire for excellence, creativity, leadership, cooperation/teamwork and accountability.

In addition to the Overview duties, the Student Life Director will:

  • Oversee administration of a Comprehensive Leadership Program.
  • Develop and implements student worker leadership training series.
  • Develop policies and procedures for the recognition and support of student activity programs.
  • Create and implements a leadership development program for emerging and current student leaders.
  • Manage orientation and leadership training to the student governments.
  • Oversee for the hiring, training, and evaluations of Orientation Leaders and Student Ambassadors.
  • Direct the City College Disaster Relief, Voter Registration efforts and CityServ a community service program.
  • Serve as an advisor to the two student governments as well as the Student Media Board.
  • Coordinate major campus events such as New Student Orientation and Freshman Convocation.
  • Monitor, Update and implement policies and procedures as they pertain to student clubs and organizations.
  • Oversight of student elections and the Student Election Review Committee (SERC).
  • Create an on-going measure of assessment and evaluation of programs and student satisfaction.
  • Design and implement diversity and multicultural programs for students.
  • Support student clubs and organizations as well as collaborate with academic departments in developing programs and special events.
  • Direct students in planning, organizing, and implementing programs, and activities that complement their academic experience.
  • Maintain accurate records of student leaders and club officers.

QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree and eight years related experience required.

  • Develops plans for, and leads a student development services unit which comprises a variety of services and programs
  • Collaborates with academic affairs professionals and other in supporting retention and building a comprehensive learning environment that fosters the intellectual, psychological, social, leadership and recreational development of a diverse student population
  • Assists senior management in providing leadership, developing policy, conducting strategic planning, and representing student affairs in various professional activities
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of the portfolio of student services in supporting divisional and College-wide goals; oversees data collection, tracking, and reporting systems
  • Manages fiscal and human resources; may oversee grant management activities for selected programs
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
