The University of Tampa — Visiting Assistant Professor, Interpersonal Communication

The Department of Communication within the College of Arts and Letters at The University of Tampa seeks candidates for a Visiting Assistant Professor for the Communication and Speech Studies major to begin August 15, 2020. 

The University of Tampa is a medium-sized, comprehensive, residentially-based private institution of 8,900 undergraduate and graduate students. The University is ideally situated on a beautiful 110-acre campus next to the Hillsborough River, adjacent to Tampa’s dynamic central business district, which is a growing, vibrant, diverse metropolitan area. Teaching load is 3 courses (12 credit hours) per semester over two 15-week semesters per academic year. There is an expectation the position will become tenure-track. 

The ideal candidate will hold a Ph.D. or terminal degree related to the appointment and have teaching/research interests primarily in interpersonal communication, family communication, and/or small group communication. We welcome related areas of interest in social media and/or uses and gratifications. The ideal candidate will have experience with both qualitative and quantitative methods. The ideal candidate will also possess a commitment to excellence in teaching and conducting research with students as well as proven experience engaging students in learning by doing, scholarship, conference activity, and on-campus engagement. This colleague will be joining faculty in an expanding Communication Department and College, and will be relied upon to support the growth and diversity in our programs, including proposing new courses (as needed).
