University of Pennsylvania — Assistant Professor, Clinician Educator Track – CHOP

The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and the Department of Psychiatry at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seek candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the non-tenure clinician educator track. Expertise is required in the specific area of analysis of patterns of verbalization and use of behavioral imaging methods such as infrared eye tracking.

Teaching responsibilities may include training Penn/CHOP medical students, research postdoctoral fellows, and others in a computational linguistics approach to understanding and addressing neuropsychiatric variation.

Clinical responsibilities may include collaborating with clinicians on research projects to ensure that the research findings will inform clinical practice.

Research or scholarship responsibilities may include conducting investigations of patterns of verbalization and language among young children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and their siblings, and use of infrared eye tracking technology to study visual attention patterns among children with Autism Spectrum Disorder.  Responsibilities also may include developing and supervising a research and training program focused on using methods from computational linguistics to evaluate, monitor, and ultimately inform real-world interventions to improve everyday functioning in neurodevelopmental and neuropsychiatric conditions.  Expertise is analysis of patterns of verbalization and use of behavioral imaging methods such as infrared eye tracking is required, and experience utilizing computational linguistics approached to Big Data is preferred.  Successful candidates will have experience in submitting and receiving extramural funding from federal sources, such as NIH.
