New Administrative Posts in Higher Education for Three African Americans

Karen Davis is the new assistant dean for inclusive excellence in the College of Engineering and Computer Science at Syracuse University in New York. She has been serving in the role on an interim basis since October 2018. Earlier, she was director of career services for the College of Engineering and Computer Science.

Davis holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from Syracuse University.

Kory Trott has been named the director of the Research Integrity and Consultation Program at Virginia Tech. In this post he will serve as the university’s research integrity officer and will lead the campus research ethics and compliance training program. He previously worked for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, where he served as a member of the Public Health Ethics and Strategy Unit in the Office of the Associate Director for Science.

Trott holds a master of public health degree from Drexel University in Philadelphia. He earned a law degree at the University of Wisconsin.

Paul Monteiro is the new assistant vice president of external affairs at Howard University in Washington, D.C. Since 2017, he has served as chief of staff in the Office of the President at Howard. In 2008, Monteiro joined the White House staff as an associate director of the Office of Public Engagement and coordinator of the White House Mentorship.

Monteiro is a graduate of the University of Maryland and holds a law degree from Howard University.
