Coastal Carolina University — Director of Education Abroad

Coastal Carolina University is accepting applications for the following position: Director of Education Abroad (Program Coordinator II) in the Center for Global Engagement.

Serving as a part of a dynamic team supporting campus internationalization initiatives, this colleague will serve as a key administrative official in charge of advancing education abroad initiatives as a part of the university’s strategic plan to double study abroad in the coming years. Reporting to the Associate Provost for Global Initiatives, this colleague will:

  • Develop and advance comprehensive planning and adjustment to the university’s various education abroad initiatives (short-term faculty led study abroad programs, long-term study abroad programs, internships abroad, conferences and research abroad, and affiliated travel abroad programs);
  • Manage the process framework and logistic support for all short-term study abroad programs, including proposal development, setup in Terra Dotta, application processing, budget management, training, and support;
  • Support and advance education abroad through oversight and effective utilization of Terra Dotta, T4, and social media, serving as key administrator for each of these tools in support of education abroad;
  • Supervise the responsive, timely, and accurate support and assessment of student and departmental inquiry related to study abroad opportunities, including supervising the activities of the Study Abroad Services Coordinator in such efforts;
  • Teach, in cooperation with departmental colleagues, the Global Ambassador experiential learning program each semester;
  • Provide exceptional customer service to all constituents, including but not limited to, faculty, staff, students, visitors and the community at large; and
  • Complete other duties as assigned, including occasional travel away from campus in support of job tasks.

Requirements: Bachelors Degree and relevant program experience are required.

Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree. Five (5) years of experience in managing study abroad programs or project portfolios with budgetary responsibility at a public university. Experience with Terra Dotta, Datatel, T-4, and social media systems is preferred. Ability to communicate in at least one language other than English is preferred. Active member of NAFSA is preferred.

Driver’s license and a current, valid passport without restriction to travel are required.
