Position Overview:
The Division of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management at Boise State University is enthusiastically seeking candidates for the position of Associate Vice President for Enrollment Services. This position reports to the Vice President for Student Affairs & Enrollment Management and serves as a member of the Vice President’s Executive Leadership Team and the Executive Enrollment Committee. The Associate Vice President for Enrollment Services provides university-wide strategic leadership, oversight, direction, and supervision for enrollment management planning and enrollment-related issues. To be successful, the AVP must be a motivational and active leader who can unify and empower campus stakeholders responsible for the development and implementation of the university’s Strategic Enrollment Plan. The position works closely with Deans and other academic leaders to help shape the enrollment class and academic profile of the institution. The Associate Vice President skillfully manages change and facilitates continuous improvement in processes and services through collaborative partnerships. 

This position directs and supervises Admissions, Financial Aid and Scholarships, Registrar’s Office and the Enrollment Services analytics team. The AVP oversees 93 full-time employees, more than 50 student staff and ambassadors, and is responsible for an annual operating budget of nearly $11 million. 

Main areas of responsibility:

  • Oversee Enrollment Services operations and provide direction in setting priorities. Hire, train, supervise and evaluate a highly effective, well-respected team of professionals in the Admissions, Financial Aid and Scholarships, Registrar, and Enrollment Services offices through consistent, predictable and clear expectations and continuous feedback. 
  • As a member of the Executive Enrollment Committee actively shape and influence Boise State University’s strategic enrollment plan and help bring constituents to consensus in the implementation of its long-term and short-term plans. Utilize higher education market trend analysis, predictive modeling, and the use of recruitment and enrollment management technology to develop recruitment, retention, and enrollment models to achieve the university’s goals. Establish institutional strategies and priorities in awarding financial aid and scholarships. Develop and implement strategies to evaluate and meet new student enrollment goals.  
  • Provide campus-wide leadership on recruitment, retention and enrollment-related issues. Advance enrollment related initiatives across Enrollment Services units and create a culture of student success, academic support, effectiveness, and continual professional development. Work closely with cross-divisional research teams to determine focus and prioritization of comprehensive retention and recruitment strategies. Monitor enrollment projections and trends to increase access and bolster the   enrollment of underrepresented prospective students and other targeted populations.     
  • Collaborate with university constituents on marketing, brand awareness, and strategic planning initiatives to enhance institutional image and outreach. Lead the coordination of student-friendly, student-success driven and effectively integrated services, working closely with university departments. Serve on various committees to align activities, advance enrollment goals, and provide services that are as seamless and accessible as possible.
  • Ensure the policies and practices of Enrollment Services comply with federal, state, and agency regulations.

At a minimum, you should have:  

  • Master’s Degree required; Doctorate preferred 
  • Five (5) to Eight (8) years of experience in an Enrollment Management leadership role

The preferred candidate will have:  

  • A deep understanding of enrollment management professional practices and the ability to implement innovative strategies to achieve recruitment and retention goals.
  • Demonstrated leadership and management experience in admissions, financial aid, and registrar services fostering a shared commitment to student success.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to evaluate and utilize data in planning and decision-making.
  • An understanding of the power and use of technology to deliver services and achieve goals. Experience utilizing and enhancing large, integrated information management systems.
  • The ability to develop and deploy resources to achieve the enrollment strategy.
  • A professional public presence that inspires confidence and credibility, and a proven record of accomplishment building collaborative partnerships and effective relationships. 
  • A commitment and ability to promote a culturally diverse and inclusive working and learning environment with a thorough understanding of issues faced by historically underrepresented students.
