Point Park University — Assistant Professor, School of Education

The School of Education at Point Park University seeks applicants for a full-time, tenure-track assistant professor position beginning with Fall Term, 2020. Located in downtown Pittsburgh, PA, Point Park University educates students in a diverse urban environment and prepares graduates to apply knowledge to achieve their goals, advance their professions and serve their communities.

The School of Education is fully committed to preparing graduates at the undergraduate and graduate level who manifest exemplary cultural competence skills that address the intellectual, interpersonal and ethical needs of culturally diverse classrooms and communities. 

About the School of Education: The School of Education offers a variety of degree programs at the undergraduate, masters and doctoral levels. The undergraduate program includes a variety of certification programs in elementary and secondary education including an option for special education dual certification. The masters degree programs are offered primarily online for teachers seeking to become educational leaders as well as those seeking teaching certification for the first time. Our Ed.D. Program in leadership and administration is a 54 credit program that serves both K – 12 educators seeking PA administrative certification and other mid to upper level leaders in non-profit and for-profit sectors. The doctoral program is offered in on-campus and online modalities and includes two and three year options. 

Required Qualifications: The successful candidate will possess:

  • An earned doctorate degree in a relevant field of study from an accredited institution;
  • Prior teaching experience;
  • Willingness to teach online and face to face in undergraduate and graduate courses;
  • Demonstrated ability to develop collaborative relationships with faculty, K – 12 schools, corporate, non-profit institutions and/or government agencies;
  • Pedagogical and research skills that support and enhance the school’s commitment to equitable outcomes and academic excellence.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience with educational research;
  • Dissertation committee experience;
  • Superintendent Letter of Eligibility (or state equivalent) and/or principal certification;
