Coastal Carolina University — Assistant Professor of Religious Studies

The Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track assistant professor of religious studies with specialization in Christianity. Expertise desired in religion in public life and/or African/African-American religions. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in Christianity, World Religions, and upper-level courses in topics related to their research expertise and/or department needs. The successful candidate will also contribute to implementing a new Religious Studies major, promote growth in the Religious Studies minor, and contribute to the university’s goals of promoting diversity and inclusion. The successful candidate will also have opportunities to build connections across disciplines and across programs. The department is committed to the teacher-scholar model and encourages reflective teaching. At least one reference letter should address the candidate’s teaching expertise.

The teaching load is seven courses per year. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Religious Studies or a closely related field by the time of appointment in August 2020.
