California State University Los Angeles — Assistant Professor, US History

The history department at California State University Los Angeles invites applications for a tenure track assistant professorship in nineteenth-century U.S. history. Areas of research specialty are open, but the department is particularly interested in candidates focused on one or more of the following topics in the nineteenth century: race, ethnicity, empire, gender, sexuality, indigenous communities, African American history/diaspora, and US/Mexico borderlands. Candidates must have earned a doctorate in History or a closely related field at the time of appointment (8/20/2020). Candidates should demonstrate evidence of successful teaching experience and scholarly activity. The successful candidate will work effectively, respectfully, and collaboratively in diverse, multicultural, and inclusive settings. In addition, the successful candidate will be ready to join faculty, staff, students, and administrators in our University’s shared commitment to the principles of engagement, service, and the public good.
