University of Pennsylvania — Academic Abdominal Transplant Surgeon

The Department of Surgery at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Assistant Professor position in either the non-tenure clinician educator track or the tenure track. Expertise is required in the specific area of adult and pediatric liver and kidney transplantation, hepatobiliary surgery, pancreas transplantation, living donor liver/kidney surgery, deceased donor procurement, laparoscopic donor nephrectomy, and vascular access. Applicants must have an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent degree. They must also be certified by the American Board of Surgery or hold equivalent international certification, and have completed an ASTS accredited multi-organ transplant fellowship.

Teaching responsibilities may include teaching of medical students, surgical residents and transplant fellows.

Clinical responsibilities may include clinical duties in the areas noted above. The clinical practice for this position will be focused at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, with secondary duties at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

Research or scholarship responsibilities may include research in the noted specialties and/or associated scientific fields. Strong experience with, and productivity in, basic, translational, and/or clinical research will be required.
