Union College — Tenure-Track Assistant Professor, History

The History Department at Union College invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor in Latin American History, preferably with specialization(s) in environmental, economic, migration/immigration, and/or gender history. Preference will be given to candidates with a record of, or demonstrated potential for, successful research and publication. This position will begin in fall 2020. Union College is a leading national liberal arts college deeply committed to undergraduate education.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent preparation to teach courses in Colonial and Modern Latin America, including courses that reflect the candidate’s area(s) of specialization, which will contribute to the Latin American and Caribbean Studies Program and other relevant interdisciplinary programs (such as Gender, Sexuality, & Women’s Studies, Environmental Science, Policy, & Engineering, and/or Africana Studies). The ability to teach pre-Columbian, indigenous and/or global history is highly desirable. The normal teaching load at Union College is six courses over three trimesters; the candidate would be expected to offer courses ranging from the introductory level to junior seminars and to supervise senior projects.
