University of Cincinnati Blue Ash College — Academic Advisor

The University of Cincinnati Blue Ash College invites applications for two Academic Advisor positions in the UCBA Academic Advising Center. UC Blue Ash College is the largest regional college in Ohio offering primarily associate degrees, with an enrollment of approximately 5,200 students. 

The advisor will create academic plans and meet with students to assess and discuss students’ progress, refer students to necessary support services, and help students to plan for meeting program requirements. The advisor’s duties will also include outreach presentations to various classes/populations as well as new student advising at orientation. Participation in college initiatives and committees will be required.  

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and one (1) year experience; -OR- Associate’s degree and three (3) years experience; -OR- five (5) years experience. Experience must be in advising high school and/or college students or a related field.  

Ideal Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have a master’s degree with two years experience in advising and mentoring college students; knowledge of and experience working with student development theory; strong analytical, organizational,  and student service skills; excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills; ability to interact with students, faculty, staff, and departments throughout the university. Strong group presentation skills, prior experience with electronic degree audit systems, and proficiency and comfort with technology are highly preferred skills.
