Birmingham-Southern College — Assistant Professor of Biology (two positions)

The Department of Biology at Birmingham-Southern College invites applications for two tenure-track faculty positions at the level of ASSISTANT PROFESSOR beginning fall 2020. Ph.D. required; post-doctoral and teaching experience preferred.

Candidates should be committed to excellence in teaching and demonstrate a commitment to the use of inclusive and evidence-based teaching practices. Teaching responsibilities may include introductory cell and molecular biology, genetics, microbiology, senior seminar, and electives in the candidate’s area(s) of expertise, preferably cell biology, molecular biology, genetics/genomics, and bioinformatics. The teaching load is three courses per term (lecture and/or lab), plus a January course. Candidates should also be committed to the development of an active research program that engages undergraduates.

Applications must include a letter of application; curriculum vitae; statement of teaching philosophy that also addresses issues of diversity, equality, and inclusion; statement of research interests, and unofficial undergraduate and graduate transcripts. Three letters of recommendation are required and should be sent to the search committee by their authors. Review of applications will begin on October 15, 2019 and will continue until the position is filled.
