Birmingham-Southern College — Assistant Professor of Biology (two positions)

The Department of Biology at Birmingham-Southern College invites applications for two tenure-track faculty positions at the level of ASSISTANT PROFESSOR beginning fall 2020. Ph.D. required; post-doctoral and teaching experience preferred.

Candidates should be committed to excellence in teaching and demonstrate a commitment to the use of inclusive and evidence-based teaching practices. Teaching responsibilities may include introductory cell and molecular biology, genetics, microbiology, senior seminar, and electives in the candidate’s area(s) of expertise, preferably cell biology, molecular biology, genetics/genomics, and bioinformatics. The teaching load is three courses per term (lecture and/or lab), plus a January course. Candidates should also be committed to the development of an active research program that engages undergraduates.

Applications must include a letter of application; curriculum vitae; statement of teaching philosophy that also addresses issues of diversity, equality, and inclusion; statement of research interests, and unofficial undergraduate and graduate transcripts. Three letters of recommendation are required and should be sent to the search committee by their authors.
