The successful candidate will take leadership in research and program development in mathematics education, in collaboration with nationally recognized faculty. Major responsibilities include: (1) teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in mathematics education; (2) teaching and mentoring graduate students; (3) maintaining and extending a record of scholarly productivity as demonstrated through peer- reviewed publications and presentations at national and international conferences and other high-impact dissemination activities; (4) demonstrate leadership in acquiring external funding; (5) leading and facilitating the growth and redesign of the pre-kindergarten through secondary level mathematics education program; and (6) providing service to the college, institution, profession, and community. 

Required Qualifications: 

  • An earned doctorate from an accredited institution in mathematics education or closely related field 
  • Demonstration of effective college-level teaching in mathematics education and/or mathematics courses for pre-service teachers 
  • Successful experience teaching mathematics in PreK – 12 
  • Candidates qualified for the rank of Full Professor must also be eligible for tenure at Arizona State University as evidenced by scholarly accomplishment appropriate to this stage in academic career 
  • Evidence of successful acquisition and administration of competitive external grants appropriate with rank 
  • Demonstrated leadership in mathematics education at the college as well as local, national and/or international levels 
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and support faculty, graduate students and undergraduates

Desired Qualifications: 

  • Experience integrating and delivering innovative technology with instruction 
  • Developing online instructional materials that align with 21st-century learning skills 
  • Experience in curriculum development for teaching mathematics 
  • Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse learners and in adapting instruction for children with diverse learning needs 
  • Familiarity with state and national teaching standards
