University of Maryland, College Park — Assistant Vice President, Enterprise Resource Planning

The University of Maryland, College Park (UMD) seeks a highly experienced leader for the position of Assistant Vice President, Enterprise Resource Planning (AVP/ERP). This is an exciting opportunity to join a premier, Research I university and play a central role in leading the institution’s enterprise project team in the multi-year implementation of an ERP solution at the forefront of cloud technology. As a new position and a critical hire for UMD, the AVP/ERP will help shape the ERP landscape for one of the largest and top ranked land-grant, public flagship universities in the nation.

The AVP/ERP will provide the vision, leadership, project management, and technical expertise to ensure the successful deployment of a new ERP. The AVP/ERP will have broad support from senior leadership and will be a key leader in the system selection and development of an implementation strategy, working collaboratively with leadership and staff across UMD. In addition, this position will manage a diverse team including internal, consulting, and vendor resources. 

The AVP/ERP will provide the strategic and operational leadership to guide UMD through a mission critical, institutional transformation that will significantly enhance university operations and delivery of services to staff, faculty and students. The migration from home grown, legacy systems to a cloud based, integrated ERP will require the AVP/ERP to plan and execute on change management and business process redesign. The AVP/ERP will be responsible for ensuring the decision-making structures and processes are inclusive, agile, and durable to meet the needs of the administrative and academic units. 

The ideal candidate will be a dynamic leader with a demonstrated track record of success implementing large scale ERP programs within a complex environment, preferably for an institution of higher education. This leader must have effective listening and communication skills with the ability to forge strong relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders. The AVP/ERP will be a highly visible, collaborative leader with excellent business acumen who can engage others and build consensus while effectively leading change and delivering results. A bachelor’s degree is required (preferably in Computer Science or related field); a master’s degree is preferred. The AVP/ERP will enable innovation through cloud based solutions that bridge the gap from where the university is to where it needs to be, positioning UMD to better meet the rapidly evolving future demands of the higher education sector.
