Introductory Microbiology Instructor

The Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics at Michigan State University (https://mmg.natsci.msu.edu) is seeking a fixed-term instructor to coordinate and teach our Introductory Microbiology course, a large enrollment hybrid course serving 500 life science undergraduate majors per semester. Responsibilities include managing and updating online content, designing in-class collaborative group learning activities, and serving as co-instructor with other faculty.

Applicants should have a minimum of a M.S. degree (Ph.D. preferred). Candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to student success and an ability to create an inclusive learning environment for a diverse student population. The candidate must also be committed to continued professional development and is expected to become part of the vibrant community of scholars engaged in improving STEM education at MSU. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in curriculum development using evidence-based pedagogical strategies, teaching undergraduate lecture and/or hybrid courses, using D2L or other online learning management systems, and managing groups of instructors, graduate TAs, and undergraduate learning assistants to teach courses to a student audience of diverse backgrounds and majors.
