In Memoriam: Tchet Dereic Dorman, 1965-2019

Tchet Dorman, a former administrator at Temple University in Philadelphia, died on June 22. He was 54 years old.

Dr. Dorman most recently served as a senior consultant for the American Cancer Society. Immediately prior to this assignment, Dorman was director of diversity for Germantown Friends School in Philadelphia.

Earlier in his career, Dr. Dorman was director of student support services at Temple University. There he help develop the graduate certificate in diversity leadership program. He also founded the university’s Transformational Intergroup Dialogue Program and the Center for Social Justice and Multicultural Education.

Dr. Dorman earned a bachelor’s degree in Black studies and government from Oberlin College in Ohio. He earned a master’s degree and a Ph.D. at Temple University.

    Words can not describe how shock I am to find out you have passed on. I remember meeting you in the summer of 1994 in North Philly. You was extremely funny, laid back, and had a strong love for our culture. I will never forget your spirit and may the Supreme Being, Angels, and ancestors bless your spirit and return.
