Andrea Jackson Is the New Dean of the Howard University College of Dentistry

Andrea D. Jackson was appointed dean of the College of Dentistry at Howard University in Washington, D.C. The college is the fifth oldest dental school in the United States and one of only two dental schools at historically Black educational institutions.

In accepting the post, Dr. Jackson stated that “it is a great honor and I am proud to serve as dean of the Howard University College of Dentistry, Our college has trained more African American dentists than any other dental school in the United States.”

Dr. Jackson has served as interim dean of the College of Dentistry since July 2018. Earlier, she was associate dean of clinical affairs and professor and chair of the department of prosthodontics. She has served on the Howard University faculty for the past 30 years.

Dr. Jackson hold s a bachelor’s degree in zoology and a doctor of dental surgery degree from Howard University. She also holds a master’s degree in prosthodontics from Georgetown University.
