A New Degree in Health Services Management at North Carolina A&T State University

North Carolina A&T State University, the historically Black educational institution in Greensboro, has announced that it is establishing a new bachelor’s degree program in health services management in the College of Health and Human Sciences. The university hopes to enroll the first students in the program in the fall of 2020.

Lenora Campbell, dean of the College of Health and Human Sciences, explains that the projected need and growth rate for medical and health services managers in North Carolina is nearly 20 percent faster than the average for all occupations. This new program will not only expand our academic footprint, but also provide a base of skilled professionals ready to meet the immediate healthcare needs of this state and beyond.”

Dean Campbell added that “the program is designed to reflect the industry’s changing competencies in technology, information and data management.” Dr. Campbell is a nursing graduate of Florida A & M University. She earned a master’s degree in nursing at the University of Maryland, and a Ph.D. from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

The university hopes to enroll 150 full-time students in the program next fall. The goal is to enroll more than 500 students in the program within four years.
