The New President of Mississippi Delta Community College

The board of trustees of Mississippi Delta Community College in Moorhead has announced that Tyrone Jackson will become the ninth president of the college on July 1.

The college enrolls just over 2,300 students, according to the latest data supplied to the U.S. Department of Education. African Americans make up 65 percent of the student body.

“I am honored for the opportunity to serve as the next president of Mississippi Delta Community College,” said Dr. Jackson. “I am thankful to the board of trustees for the confidence bestowed upon me to lead this great institution.”

Dr. Jackson has been serving as vice president of administrative services at the Utica campus of Hinds Community College. Previously, he was associate vice president for student services at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in Perkinston. Earlier in his career, Dr. Jackson held many posts at Delta State University in Cleveland, Mississippi, including associate director of housing and residence life, director of graduate studies, and assistant dean.

Dr. Jackson holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology, a master’s degree in education, and an educational doctorate, all from Delta State University.
