New Administrative Duties in Higher Education for Four African Americans

Kerry Anne Simon has been named director of university bands at Mississippi Valley State University. She has been serving as the university’s associate director of bands since 2017.

Dr. Simon is a graduate of Mississippi Valley State University where she majored in music education. She holds a master’s degree in education from Union University in Jackson, Tennessee, a master’s degree in music education from Tennessee State University, and a Ph.D in music education from Florida State University.

Kwanna King has been named registrar at the University of Wyoming. She has served as registrar at Connors State College in Warner, Oklahoma, for the past eight years.

King is a graduate of Bacone College in Muskogee, Oklahoma, where she majored in business administration. She holds a master’s degree in human relations from the University of Oklahoma.

Charles King has been named vice president for institutional advancement at Philander Smith College in Little Rock, Arkansas. Most recently, he served as senior major gifts officer at Arkansas Children’s Hospital.

King is a graduate of Arkansas State University where he majored in psychology.

Sean Plater has been named general manager of 96.3 WHUR-FM and the Howard University Radio Network. He has served as interim general manager since 2018 and served as deputy general manager from 2013 to 2018.

Plater is a graduate of Howard University. He holds an MBA from the University of Maryland.
