    POSITION SUMMARY:

    Responsible for all aspects of the alumni relations program as well as supporting other advancement activities; including development, implementation, and management. Provides innovative leadership and direction to maximize alumni engagement and career success, increase university enrollments, enhance the university's competitive position, and expand charitable giving. Provides support to the Office of Advancement and Special Projects and other university departments with community outreach and relations, internal and external communications, activities and events, fundraising, and other efforts as needed. Performs all duties in accordance with the university's policies and procedures, all U.S., state, and federal laws and regulations wherein the university operates. The alumni population is at 50,000 and growing.

    TYPE OF SUPERVISION:

    Receive general supervision from the Executive Vice Chancellor, Advancement and Special Projects.

    General Supervision indicates that the incumbent develops procedures for performance of variety of duties; or performs complex duties within established policy guidelines.

    Alumni Engagement

  • Responsible for working with Brandman Alumni partners and constituencies to build a dynamic and engaged alumni community for the over 50,000 and growing alumni community.

  • Lead development and implementation of innovative strategies to increase alumni engagement for supporting the university's efforts to increase enrollments, enhance competitive position, and raise external resources.

  • Collaborate with Career Planning and Development department to develop, implement, and manage career/professional development programs that benefit alumni including events centered on networking, mentoring, and job searching.

  • Support Brandman schools' and departments' goals and initiatives, and collaborate with schools and departments to enhance alumni relations efforts.

  • Recruit, supervise, train, and manage alumni volunteers and student workers to support Brandman events, activities, and initiatives.

  • Develop and lead Brandman Alumni Board of Directors and subcommittees.

  • Develop, implement, and manage alumni relations events and activities.

  • Coordinate meetings, events, and activities in the community and throughout. Brandman's online and campus network.

    Alumni Administration

  • Maintain and grow alumni database.

  • Manage comprehensive alumni communications through email, website, social networks, mailings, etc.

  • Create and track performance metrics on a monthly/annual basis and analyze data to develop effective alumni engagement strategies.

  • Proactively seek out technology driven solutions to scale all aspects of Brandman's alumni engagement and ensure virtual presence is indicative of an industry leader.

  • Keep abreast of current and emerging technology to ensure Brandman's virtual presence is best in class.

  • Collaborate with Brandman information technology department to ensure integration with university systems.

    Development/Fundraising

  • Assists with donor research and cultivation.

  • Oversees and assists with utilization and management of various fundraising technology tools.

  • Develop, implement, and manage fundraising events, activities, and campaigns.

  • Manage alumni scholarship programs.

  • Assist Advancement with maintaining and growing donor database.

  • 20%

    POSITION SPECIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

    ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Skilled in conducting analyses and interpreting data.

  • Well versed in volunteer recruitment, training, and management.

  • Knowledgeable and curious about alumni, donor, career, and customer engagement technology.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with diverse groups and individuals.

  • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and diversity.

  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, including presentation, writing, editing, and proofreading skills.

  • Exceptional time-management, problem-solving, and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize a heavy workload under pressure with competing assignments and deadlines.

  • Ability to learn and successfully utilize various computer programs at an accelerated pace.

  • Ability to identify new programs and/or strategies in a competitive, higher education environment.

  • Ability to travel up to 10% including some overnight travel to conferences, events, and campuses throughout California, Washington, and other states.

  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.

    EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION AND/OR LICENSES:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher, or equivalent work experience.

  • Five (5) years of experience in a combination of alumni relations, advancement/fundraising, marketing, management, community relations, external affairs, or related experience.

  • Experience in higher education, preferred.

  • Experience in project management including developing strategic marketing and event planning, preferred.

  • Experience working with alumni management and donor management systems, preferred.

  • Experienced in engaging and supervising contractors and volunteers.

  • A valid Driver's license and reliable transportation.

    MACHINES, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT, ELECTRONIC DEVICES AND SOFTWARE:

  • Microsoft Office Suite including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.

  • Graduway Alumni Network Platform, or other similar alumni management systems.

  • Salesforce, or other similar system.

  • iDonate, or other similar donor management systems.

  • Email marketing tools.

  • Social networking tools.
