Three African American Faculty Members Receive New Assignments

Deondra Rose has been named director of research for the Center on Political Leadership, Innovation, and Service at the Sanford School of Public Policy at Duke University. She is an assistant professor of public policy and political science.

Dr. Rose is a graduate of the University of Georgia. She holds a master’s degree and Ph.D. both from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York.

Eric Ashley Hairston has been named associate dean for academic advising and associate professor at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He currently serves as an associate professor of English and of law and humanities and as the coordinator of the independent major at Elon University in North Carolina.

Professor Hairston is a graduate of Wake Forest University where he double majored in English and politics. He holds a law degree from the University of North Carolina, and a master’s degree and Ph.D. both in English language and literature from the University of Virginia.

Sean Seymore has been named faculty head of Warren College at Vanderbilt University in Nashville. He is a professor of law and chemistry and previously served as faculty head of East House on The Martha Rivers Ingram Commons at Vanderbilt.

Dr. Seymore is a graduate of the University of Tennessee where he majored in chemistry. He holds a master’s degree in chemistry from the Georgia Institute of Technology, and a law degree and a Ph.D. in chemistry both from the University of Notre Dame.

Quenon Endowed Chair, and vice provost for graduate education at Missouri University of Science and Technology.
