College of DuPage — Dean, Student Affairs

The Dean of Student Affairs leads a retention and engagement focused Student Affairs division. As part of the College’s academic and student affairs leadership team, this individual will provide a data driven approach to assessing practices that make an impact in a community college setting and will support a cohesive student success agenda for the college. As a student affairs professional, the Dean will oversee services that promote an inclusive and diverse approach to engaging special populations such as underrepresented students, veterans, and students in need of accommodations.

Reports directly to the Assistant Provost of Student Affairs.

  • Oversee student success and retention services and initiatives, including but not limited to student life, programming and outreach to diverse populations, services for students with disabilities, student government, student judicial affairs, program accessibility, Title IX complaints, and student grievance procedures.
  • Collaborate with the Office of the Provost, Deans, Administrators, faculty, and others throughout the College to enhance the culture of learning that extends beyond the classroom walls and into the students’ life experience.
  • Serve as the College’s Title IX Coordinator. Oversees the College’s compliance with Title IX and related laws, including investigation of Title IX and other student complaints, monitoring outcomes and trends, ensuring provision of interim and permanent remedies, guiding campus prevention education, and providing training for those involved in the investigation and/or resolution process.
  • Serve as the College Student Judicial Officer.
  • Educate faculty and staff about student/faculty rights, campus resources, classroom behavior management techniques, Title IX compliance, and informal/formal methods of conflict resolution. Provide consultation to faculty/staff about individual student situations. Provide consultation and guidance to offices and programs regarding students’ rights and procedural matters to ensure students are treated equitably and with respect.
  • Develop partnerships, funding resources and collaborations to provide programs that assist particular student populations which may need additional support to achieve academic success.
  • Establish, implement and evaluate long and short-term goals and objectives for the Student Affairs division. Develop policy and procedures to support those objectives and communicates them to the college community.
  • Provide leadership and coordinates programs with instructional and student support areas designed to improve services to all students.
  • Builds collaborative partnerships with Academic Affairs, Admissions and Outreach, Counseling and Advising, Veteran services, and other areas of the College.
  • Support the strategy efforts of reporting areas to address students’ transition to the College.
  • Develop budgets, monitor division spending and approve expenditures according to annual spending plans.
  • Provide overall leadership, evaluation and professional development of employees within areas of responsibility.
  • Assess technology needs for the areas of responsibility and create a cohesive strategy for the purchase and implementation of new technologies.
  • Assume special responsibilities on assignment from the Assistant Provost or Provost.



  • Five to seven years of experience with increasing responsibilities in the areas of judicial affairs, Title IX, student engagement, co-curricular programs and student services.
  • Experience managing staff.
  • Expertise in federal, state, local laws and regulations impacting student affairs including Title IX and the Cleary Act.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications with ability to build rapport.
  • Ability to build consensus and communicates decisions with clarity and compassion.
  • Demonstrated evidence-driven leadership with experience in assessment and outcomes measurements.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of student recruitment and retention practices, and a familiarity with academic program development and administration.

EDUCATION: Master’s degree in counseling, student personnel, education administration, educational psychology or related field.



  • Progressive student affairs experience in a community college setting.
  • Experience managing Title IX reporting and cases and providing training.
  • Experience with Cleary reporting.

EDUCATION: Doctorate degree in counseling, student personnel, education administration, educational psychology or related field.
