Bard College — Full-time Positions in Academics and Administration, Bard Prison Initiative

The Bard Prison Initiative (BPI) is hiring for full-time positions in academics and administration. Candidates should have terminal degrees, experience teaching at a college level, and administrative leadership capacity. BPI administrators often teach one or two courses a year in their disciplines; candidates who have an interest in teaching are particularly welcome to apply.

BPI extends the full breadth and depth of the Bard College liberal arts curriculum into six New York State prisons. It enrolls a student body of over 300 women and men annually, and BPI students have earned over 500 Bard College associate and bachelor’s degrees. BPI also offers extensive support for alumni in and around New York City, and it has developed a nationwide network of leading universities and colleges engaged in college-in-prison.  Its newest initiative, the Bard Microcollege, expands yet further the scope and impact of this work, delivering high-quality, tuition-free, degree-granting college outside of prison through partnerships with community-based institutions.

To apply, check the BPI postings listed under Administrative Positions on the Bard College employment opportunities page.
