Alicia Harvey-Smith Selected as the New President of Pittsburgh Technical College

Alicia B. Harvey-Smith has been named president of Pittsburgh Technical College in Oakdale, Pennsylvania. The college enrolls over 1,800 students, 7 percent of whom are Black. Dr. Harvey-Smith will assume her new duties on July 1, 2019.

Currently, Dr. Harvey-Smith serves as the executive vice chancellor at Lone Star College in Houston, Texas. Earlier in her career she served as president of River Valley Community College in Claremont, New Hampshire, and as vice president of student affairs at Baltimore City Community College.

“I look forward to working with the college’s board, faculty, staff, students, alumni, and community stakeholders to write the next chapter of the Pittsburgh Technical College story, to build upon its legacy of achievement and to position it as a college of first choice among associate- and bachelor-degree-granting institutions,” said Dr. Harvey-Smith.

Dr. Harvey-Smith is a graduate of Morgan State University in Baltimore. She holds a master’s degree from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore and a Ph.D. from the University of Maryland.
