A Trio of African Americans in New Administrative Posts at Universities

Dustin Bessette has been named the associate program chair for computer information systems at the School of Arts and Sciences at Post University in Waterbury, Connecticut. He has been a faculty member at the university since 2015.

Professor Bessette holds an MBA in healthcare management from Campbellsville University in Kentucky and an MBA in advertising management from the University of St. Mary in Leavenworth, Kansas. He is currently a doctoral candidate at the New England College of Business in Boston, where he is concentrating on quality management.

Allia L. Carter has been named executive vice president and chief operating officer at Virginia Union University. She has been vice president for enrollment management and student affairs at the university since 2017.

Dr. Cater is a graduate of Siena Heights University in Adrian, Michigan, where she majored in biology. She holds a master’s degree in educational administration and higher education from Southern Illinois University and a Ph.D. in higher education administration with a concentration in educational administration and supervision from Bowling Green State University in Ohio.

Kimberly L. Martin has been named director of the Cultural Center at the University of Louisville in Kentucky. She most recently served as the coordinator for diversity and inclusion at the Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine in Auburn Hills, Michigan.

Dr. Martin is a graduate of the University of Michigan. She holds an MBA from Clark Atlanta University and a Ph.D. in educational leadership from Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan.
