Fairleigh Dickinson University — Dean of Students


This position reports to the Florham Campus Executive, and exists to provide leadership, planning, management, administration and supervision to all campus student affairs programs and services. These departments include: Student Health Services/Wellness Center, Campus Counseling Center, Residence Life, Student Life, Conference Operations and Campus Ministries.

Through leadership, program and policy development, the Dean of Students contributes to the overall intellectual, social, spiritual and personal development of students.

  1. Master’s degree in counseling, student personnel or related field. Ed.D. or Ph.D. in related discipline preferred.
  2. A minimum of five years varied and progressively responsible Student Affairs management experience in a college or university setting, (i.e., Residence Life, Student Life, Assistant or Associate Dean of Students).
  3. Strong communication and interpersonal skills required.
  4. Strong organizational and managerial skills required.
  5. Knowledge of student affairs and higher education legal issues.
  6. The ability to work with a diverse population of students, faculty, staff and administrators.
  7. Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check. Candidates for hire will be required to sign a waiver authorizing the background check and produce a Social Security Card.
