University of Pennsylvania — Research Assistant Professor, Biomedical Sciences

The Department of Biomedical Sciences within the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine is seeking candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the Research track (non-tenure Research Assistant Professor).  The successful applicant will have experience running an independent research project with a focus on applying functional genetic and genomic technologies (e.g., single cell RNA-sequencing, ATAC-seq, Cre-Lox gene ablation) in mouse models of cancer and tissue regeneration.  Strong preference is given to applicants who have successfully competed for extramural funding (e.g., NIH), as the successful applicant will be required to run an extramurally-funded research program in conjunction with an established standing faculty member.  Candidates must hold a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent degrees and have an establish record of publishing peer-reviewed research manuscripts in internationally-recognized journals.  There is also the opportunity to participate in Veterinary and Graduate educational programs. 

The Department of Biomedical Science is comprised of a diverse faculty utilizing molecular, biochemical, and genetic approaches to study tumorigenesis, tumor microenvironment, and stem cells & regenerative biology.  The Department maintains close affiliations and collaborations with departments across University including the Perelman School of Medicine as well as the neighboring Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and the Wistar Institute.
