University of Dayton — Director, S.D. Planning & Assessment

Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Student Development, the Director of Planning and Assessment provides leadership and direction for all planning and assessment activities of student development programs and services within the division. The Director is responsible for designing and implementing a comprehensive division wide assessment program relating to student development, learning outcomes, educational programming and services, and retention efforts. The Director will create an environment where evidence of student learning is understood and appreciated in all of the division’s programs and services. Works closely with the Office of the Provost and the College of Arts and Sciences regarding all learning based programs and activities.

Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree in higher education or research related field. Demonstrated experience in student affairs research, planning and assessment initiatives. Articulated experience in developing planning and assessment programs to measure student learning and program effectiveness outcomes. Strong written communication skills. Articulated experience in strategic planning and assessing student learning outcomes. Experience with computer technology, including the extraction and analysis of data and experience with relevant software including Microsoft Excel and SPSS or a similar program. Demonstrated ability in analyzing, synthesizing, and summarizing complex data and presenting information both in writing and in presentations to a variety of constituents.

Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with current trends in assessment and evaluation of programs and services. Strong verbal communication skills. Demonstrated strong analytical skills. Prior experience in supervision of student employees. Articulated understanding of connections between strategic plan, budgeting, programming and assessment. Demonstrated experience using assessment to further diversity and inclusion initiatives. Demonstrated skills to support a collaborative and consultative environment and encourage teamwork. Demonstrated successful experience in working with various internal and external constituents, ranging from software vendors to the Provost, faculty, deans, directors of departments and the Board of Trustees.
