New Assignments for Three African American Scholars

Channing L. Moreland was appointed clinical assistant professor in the department of rehabilitation science and technology, clinical rehabilitation, and mental health counseling at the University of Pittsburgh. She also serves as program coordinator of the Cognitive Skills Enhancement Program at the Hirman G. Andrews Center in Johnstown, Pennsylvania.

Dr. Moreland holds a bachelor’s degree in child development and a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She earned an educational doctorate at Point Park University in Pittsburgh.

Emmanuel K. Asiamah has been appointed assistant professor of animal science in the department of agriculture at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. He was a graduate research assistant in the Laboratory of Animal Genomic Diversity and Biotechnology at North Carolina A&T State University.

Dr. Asiamah holds a master’s degree in integrated animal health/biotechnology and molecular biology and a Ph.D. in applied science and technology both from North Carolina A&T State University.

Omari H. Swinton has been named president of the National Economic Association, an organization dedicated to producing and distributing knowledge of economic issues that are of exceptional interest to promoting economic growth among people of color. He is an associate professor of economics at Howard University in Washington, D.C..

Dr. Swinton is a graduate of Florida A&M University where he majored in economics. He holds a master’s degree and Ph.D. both in economics from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina.
