University of Pennsylvania — Assistant Professor (Research Track), Pediatric Hematology

The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and the Division of Hematology in the Department of Pediatrics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seek candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the non-tenure research track. Applicants must have an M.D. or Ph.D degree and have demonstrated excellent qualifications in research and education.

The successful applicants will have extensive experience in the relevant area of research concentration and evidence of independent investigation and funding.

The position is for an individual with demonstrated successful scientific investigation in the area of structural biology of blood coagulation proteins. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated interest in understanding how protein-protein interactions involved in the assembly of the coagulation complexes modulates enzymatic function, and how abnormality in their function leads to bleeding or thrombosis. Special attention will be given to candidates who have strengths in x-ray crystallography, other approaches for structural analysis and biophysical techniques for studying macromolecular interactions. The selected individual will complement broader departmental research interests of understanding the chemistry and biology of the blood coagulation reactions to develop therapeutic approaches for bleeding disorders.
