Sean Huddleston Named President of Martin University in Indianapolis

Sean L. Huddleston has been named president of Martin University in Indianapolis, Indiana. The university enrolls fewer than 400 students. African Americans make up 92 percent of the student body. Huddleston will start his new role on March 25, 2019.

Currently, Huddleston is vice president for inclusion and equity at the University of Indianapolis. He was the chief officer for diversity, inclusion, and community engagement at Framingham State University in Massachusetts. Earlier, Huddleston was assistant vice president for inclusion and equity strategy implementation at Grand Valley State University in Michigan. He has also held managerial positions with Steelcase and Detroit Technologies.

“I am deeply honored and extremely excited to have been selected to serve as the next President of Martin University,” said Huddleston. “I truly believe that its rich history and mission make Martin one of the most important higher education institutions in our region. Dr. Eugene White did a tremendous job leading the institution, resulting in Martin’s being stable and poised for growth. I am looking forward to working side-by-side with Martin’s faculty, staff, trustees, alumni, and friends to help the university achieve new heights while continuing to preserve the great legacies of our founders, Father Boniface Hardin, and Sister Jane Schilling.”

Huddleston holds a bachelor’s degree from Siena Heights University in Adrian, Michigan, and a master’s degree in education from Grand Valley State University. He is expected to receive a doctorate in higher education and community college leadership from Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan, this coming May.
