Kevin James to Lead the College of Business and Economics at North Carolina A&T State University

Kevin J. James has been appointed  dean of the College of Business and Economics at historically Black North Carolina A&T State University.

Dr. James has been serving as interim dean since August 2017. He has also served as chair of the department of accounting and finance since 2010. Prior to teaching at North Carolina A&T, Dr. James served as a faculty member at Middle Tennessee State University for 10 years, first as an assistant professor of accounting and then as an associate professor and director of the Master of Accountancy program. Before he began his career in higher education, Dr. James was a senior auditor and audit team leader at PricewaterhouseCoopers.

“Dr. James stepped into the dean’s office a year and a half ago, and has provided outstanding leadership during a dynamic time for both the college and the university,” said executive vice chancellor for academic affairs at North Carolina A&T Beryl McEwen. “His strong background prepared him well for this challenge, and his performance while serving as interim dean was convincing. I look forward to his leadership in the months and years ahead.”

Dr. James holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and an MBA both from Middle Tennessee State University. He earned a Ph.D. in accounting with a minor in psychology from the University of Tennessee.
