New Internship Program for Social Work Students at Clark Atlanta University

Historically Black Clark Atlanta University in Georgia has announced a  new partnership with the On the Rise Financial Center. In April 2017, the National Federation of Community Development Credit Unions launched the Atlanta-based On the Rise Financial Center to build financial well-being for individuals and families in local communities.

Under the agreement students at the Whitney M. Young Jr. School of Social Work Center for Children and Families will participate in an internship program at the On the Rise Financial Center. The students will receive social work experience with citizens in need of banking and financial information. And the participating student interns will allow the center to help more people.

Jenny Jones, dean of the School of Social Work, stated that “this partnership opens doors for new learning experiences for our students that will broaden the depth and breadth of their practice in the area of economic well-being. We look forward to an ongoing relationship with On the Rise Foundation in addressing issues of financial inequality among vulnerable families.”

Dr. Jones is a graduate of Valdosta State University in Georgia, where she majored in psychology. She earned a master of social work degree from California State University, Long Beach and a Ph.D. in social work from Clark Atlanta University.
