New Duties for Three African American Faculty Members

Kafui Dzirasa has been elected to the American Society for Clinical Investigation for 2019. He is an associate professor in the department of psychiatry and behavioral sciences at Duke University.

Dr. Dzirasa holds a Ph.D. and a medical doctorate both from Duke University.

Steve Swayne has been appointed as the interim director of the Montgomery Fellows Program at Dartmouth College. He currently serves as the Jacob H. Strauss 1922 Professor of Music at Dartmouth.

Dr. Swayne holds a bachelor’s degree from Occidental College in Los Angeles, a master of divinity from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, California, and a master’s degree and Ph.D. both from the University of California, Berkeley.

Monica A. Coleman was appointed professor of African American studies at the University of Delaware. She has been serving as professor of constructive theology and African American religions at the Claremont School of Theology in California. Professor Coleman is the author or editor of six books including the memoir Bipolar Faith: A Black Woman’s Journey With Depression and Faith (Fortress Press, 2016).

Dr. Coleman is a graduate of Harvard University. She holds a master of divinity degree from Vanderbilt University in Nashville and a master’s degree and a Ph.D. from the Claremont Graduate School.
